Hurricane Ian did avoid Currituck’s Outer Banks, thanks to the strong northeasterly winds driving it inland across South Carolina. However, these strong winds drove heavy surf on our beach for more than 24 hours. It was just after low tide this morning that I took these photos of every oceanfront home in Ocean Hill. The water washed high up onto our dunes all day yesterday. In summary we all lost about two feet of dune front. In some places low dune areas were breached as can be seen from the photos.
